We’re excited to announce that the first Developmental Disabilities Primary Care Program (DDPCP) Forum will take place on Friday, December 6th. Hosted by the DDPCP at Surrey Place and the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine (CPD), this forum is focused on improving primary health care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Why is this forum important?
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience higher rates of serious health conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and mental health issues like anxiety and depression. They also face significant barriers within our healthcare systems, from communication challenges to difficulties navigating complex care processes and a lack of access to specialized, tailored services. Addressing these barriers is essential—not only to improve health outcomes but to uphold the standards of equitable, patient-centered care.
How will the DDPCP Forum help?
This forum will give you practical tools and strategies to improve care for adults with IDD. You’ll hear from health care leaders and people with lived experience, offering insights that you can apply right away in your practice. Plus, you’ll earn MOC/CME credits for your participation.
