Regulating Nursing in the Public Interest

NANB Welcomes New President-Elect and Region Directors

FREDERICTON, October 13, 2011 – Registered nurses of New Brunswick continue to elect strong
advocates to represent them on the Board of Directors of the Nurses Association of New
(AIINB). Newly elected, Darline Cogswell (Rusagonis) assumes the position of
President-Elect, representing the 8,900 member Association. Joining Mrs. Cogswell are: Terry
Lynne King, RN (Saint John) incoming Region Director (zone 2); Noëlline LeBel, RN (Edmundston)
returning Region Director (zone 4); and Marius Chiasson, RN (Bathurst) representing Region
Director (zone 6). Dawn Torpe, RN (Oromocto) will complete the term vacated by Darline Cogswell
as Region Director (zone 3).

President-Elect:
Darline Cogswell, RN graduated from the AJ McMaster School of Nursing (1977) and later
received a baccalaureate of nursing from the University of New Brunswick (1992) as well as CNA
Certification in Emergency Nursing (1995). Cogswell is currently employed as Facility and
Emergency Manager at the Oromocto Hospital.

Active in professional affairs, Cogswell is President of NANB Nurse Manager Interest Group,
former Chair of the Oromocto NB Cancer Society Relay for Life, former Chair of NB Telecare
Advisory Committee, longtime NANB Board of Director (zone 3) and York Chapter President as
well as, past member of the Executive Committee of the New Brunswick Nurses Union.
As President-Elect, Cogswell hopes to influence healthy public policy by continuing to set high
standards for nursing practice. “New Brunswick’s health care system faces significant challenges,
challenges that require transformational change nurses ’ can be the strong force in shaping these
changes,” says Darline Cogswell, President-Elect of NANB.

Re-elected and Term Region Directors:
Terry-Lynne King, RN was elected Region Director (zone 2). King graduated with a Bachelor of
Nursing from University of New Brunswick, Saint John (2000) and Healthcare Management
Degree from McMaster University (2003). King most recently received a Diploma Teaching
Certificate from the University of New Brunswick in 2006. King is employed as a Staff Nurse, UNB
Student Health Clinic and part-time educator with the faculty of Nursing, UNBSJ.
