Canadian Public Health Association – Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) has launched a free, accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) online course. Provide safer, more inclusive care for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections was developed for family physicians and other clinical care providers (including students/trainees) and is available now at https://learning.cpha.ca. The course was developed in collaboration with the University of Ottawa Office of Continuing Professional Development and learners can earn up to 4.0 Mainpro+ and MOC credits.

This course focuses on recognizing and reducing the impacts of stigma and discrimination related to sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI). Through research, videos, quizzes, self-reflection exercises and case scenarios, learners will explore the key roles that language, communication styles and workplace policies and procedures can play in creating safer, more inclusive environments for sexual health and substance use related care.

For more information on our work to reduce STBBI stigma, including other free resources for health and social service professionals, please visit CPHA’s website. Together, we can encourage safer, more inclusive services for sexual health, harm reduction and STBBIs.
