Call for Nurse Practitioner Therapeutics Committee Members
The Nurses Association of New Brunswick (NANB) is currently seeking additional nurse practitioner (NP) membership on the Nurse Practitioner Therapeutics Committee (NPTC) for the 2023-2025 term.
If you are currently employed as a NP in New Brunswick and have at least 5 years of experience, please consider serving on the NPTC.
The NPTC is an advisory committee of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick (NANB) and reports to the Board of Directors. The mandate of the committee is to develop and review Schedules “A”, “B”, and “C” in the NANB NP Schedules for Ordering, identifying:
– the designated forms of energy that a nurse practitioner may prescribe;
– the designated laboratory and other tests that a nurse practitioner may prescribe; and
– the designated drugs that a nurse practitioner may prescribe.
The committee is composed of six members with equal representation from nursing (nurse practitioners), medicine and pharmacy. Members will be appointed by their respective regulatory body. The Committee shall elect a chair amongst its members. One NANB staff acts as the committee resource but is a non-voting member.
A term is for two (2) years commencing on September 1st of the calendar year. Members can be reappointed for two subsequent terms. The NPTC will meet at least once annually and more often if required.
