FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : NANB Approves 71 new Registered Nurses (RNs) for Registration and Licensure in One Day Under New Expedited Process
FREDERICTON April 3, 2023 – NANB’s Board of Directors and staff are pleased to report that upon implementation of the new registration process announced last week, on Wednesday March 29, 2023, NANB approved seventy-one (71) RNs for registration and licensure, that day alone.
Last week, the NANB Board of Directors approved significant rule changes that will expedite registration for RNs who already hold a Canadian license, enabling them to come to work in New Brunswick. These rule changes came into effect on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
The process, which could have previously taken several business days following the submission of many more documents to allow for review, will now be done in 24 hours thanks to the new streamlined process.
NANB was able to implement these changes in just six (6) days, which were then implemented two (2) days later. NANB has worked in close collaboration with the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) to make these changes on a timeline that would align with that of similar changes announced by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN). Demonstrating that this is a shared priority of both NANB and GNB.
“Approving registration for 71 new Canadian registered nurses from other provinces and territories in Canada in one day is a testament to NANB’s willingness to work with government and do our part in finding viable solutions to our nursing shortage while keeping New Brunswickers safe” says Denise LeBlanc-Kwaw, Chief Executive Officer of NANB.
