Volunteers wanted- NCLEX Lexicon Members

The Canadian Council of Registered Nurse Regulators (CCRNR) is seeking Canadian Francophone nurses interested in putting their name forward to be considered to participate in the NCLEX Lexicon Panel and an upcoming NCLEX Translation panel on November 5-7, 2024, onsite at National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) in Chicago, IL. NCSBN purchases airfare and lodging and reimburses event business-related expenses for panel participants.

NCSBN ensures the appropriate translation of the NCLEX using a three-tiered approach: item translation, independent review, and in-field item analysis. Additionally, resources such as Termium Plus, the NCLEX Translation Lexicon, and an NCLEX Lexicon Panel support the translation process.

Due to the specificity of the nursing profession, there are occasions when no exact translation exists. As a result, research is conducted to obtain an acceptable translation. Before adding this new terminology to the NCLEX Translation Lexicon and subsequently using it on the exam, it must be approved by the NCLEX Lexicon Panel.

1.           The NCLEX Lexicon Panel consists of nurses who are:

  • nurse educators, practicing RNs or nurse regulators
    • At this time, we are soliciting for nurse educators and practicing RNs. We have enough regulators on the Lexicon panel.
  • fluently bilingual in both Canadian French and English
  • using French in the workplace

2.           Responsibilities include reconciling translation issues from the translation review panels and approving proposed NCLEX Translation Lexicon terminology.

3.           Annual participation requirements include one in-person (Chicago, IL) Translation Review Panel (to assist with facilitation) and one or two virtual NCLEX Lexicon Panel meetings.

If you meet the above criteria and would like to be considered to participate, please submit your name to nanb@nanb.nb.ca by Friday September 6th. NANB will only contact those selected.
