Conditions Imposed, Suspension Lifted
In a decision dated February 5, 2025, a panel of the NANB Fitness to Practice (Review) Committee accepted an Alternate Complaint Resolution Proposal (“ACRP”) between NANB and the Registrant. The Registrant admitted to diverting narcotics from their place of work for personal use, using narcotics while at work, falsifying documentation to make it appear that narcotics had been wasted when the Registrant had diverted them, and misleading coworkers by making it appear that narcotics had been wasted when the Registrant had diverted them. The NANB Fitness to Practice (Review) Committee accepted medical evidence that the Registrant is now fit to practice and ordered that the suspension imposed on the Registrant by the Complaints Committee be lifted and conditions be imposed on the Registrant’s registration.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to the following conditions on their practice:
- Remedial education related to ethics in nursing;
- Performance evaluations from their employer(s) from the date of their return to the active practice of nursing;
- Shall not work independently as a self-employed Registered Nurse and shall not work in a supervisory role;
- Continue to receive medical treatments and counselling;
- Submit written reports from health care professionals treating and counselling the Registrant;
- Participate in a drug monitoring program and various audits of medication administration records;
- Restrictions regarding the handling, administering, co-signing, counting, wasting, and handling of Controlled Substances;
- Remain abstinent from all drugs and Controlled Substances other than those prescribed by a licenced medical physician and small quantities of cannabis and CBD;
- Provide their employers with a copy of the Fitness to Practice (Review) Committee’s decision and order and advise NANB of any change in address or employer.
