Conditions Imposed, Suspension Lifted
In a decision dated October 21, 2024, a panel of the NANB Fitness to Practice (Review) Committee accepted an Alternate Complaint Resolution Proposal (“ACRP”) between NANB and the Registrant. The Registrant admitted to multiple instances of inappropriate conduct, including leaning towards a patient and lifting his hand in a threatening manner, failing to de-escalate a situation involving an aggressive patient and putting his coworkers at risk, making inappropriate comments towards colleagues, acting inappropriately, having loud outbursts, and creating a tense and difficult work environment. The Registrant admitted that during a code blue, his conduct was counter-productive and made the situation more chaotic by failing to use professional communication with the healthcare team, specifically by yelling commands, using inappropriate language, and acting inappropriately. The NANB Fitness to Practice (Review) Committee accepted evidence that the Registrant is now fit to practice and ordered that the suspension imposed on the Registrant by the Complaints Committee be lifted and conditions be imposed on the Registrant’s registration.
The Registrant has voluntarily agreed to the following conditions on their practice:
- Remedial education related to ethics in nursing;
- Performance evaluations from their employer(s) from the date of their return to the active practice of nursing;
- Continue to receive medical treatments and counselling;
- Submit written reports from a health professional counselling the Registrant;
- Pay a portion of the costs associated with the complaint; and
- Provide their employers with a copy of the Fitness to Practice (Review) Committee’s decision and order and advise NANB of any change in address or employer.
