NANB Virtual Presentation: Interprofessional Socialization and Collaboration

Learning with, from and about one another as health professionals is essential for collaboration. This presentation will provide insight into the conditions that support collaborative teamwork within healthcare and will highlight the critical role nurses and other health professionals play in the socialization of future health professionals.

  • Dr. Sheri Lynn Price
    Dr. Sheri Lynn Price

    Dr. Sheri Lynn Price is a Professor with the School of Nursing, Dalhousie University, and an Affiliate Scientist at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr. Price is also a Collaborator with the Pan-Canadian Health Human Research Network and a Co-Investigator with the WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Workforce Planning. Her program of research is focused in the areas of nursing recruitment and retention, health professional education, interprofessional collaboration and healthcare work environments. Her research has advanced our understanding of how early influences on professional identity formation can impact not only recruitment but also career satisfaction and retention within nursing and the health professions. Her research has also informed the development of strategies to enhance interprofessional socialization and collaboration. She currently leads several studies designed at improving interprofessional education and collaboration across the health professions and she employs novel knowledge translation strategies using dramatic arts and videos. Recognition for her contributions have resulted in numerous prestigious awards and invited/keynote speaking engagements at national and international forums. Dr. Price has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications, and she is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Nursing and the American Academy of Nursing.
