Dear Partners in Health,
To address cannabis-related health concerns, NB Lung, in collaboration with the New Brunswick Medical Society and the Centre de formation médicale du N.-B has created an expanded Cannabis Harm Reduction Resource. This initiative is expanding on the previous resources to address gaps in cannabis related education for students and professionals in health care fields by creating a comprehensive resource on cannabis health risks for specific populations, and effective patient care approaches. We aim to guide patients toward safer consumption methods, transitioning away from smoking to alternatives like edibles and oils.
Our resources include:
- a screening guideline video: Demonstrates effective, supportive conversations across demographics
- a demographic risks card
- a conversation strategies card to engage with specific populations
- a ‘Pathways to Cannabis Harm Reduction’ tool to tailor advise based on use patterns
For in-depth information on the Cannabis Harm Reduction Program, including access to the program’s resources, please visit nblung.ca/CHR2 . We invite all healthcare professionals to engage with this
initiative as we collectively strive to enhance patient understanding, promote harm reduction, and safeguard the lung health of our communities.
If you have any questions or wish to be involved in this program, please contact ravleen.bansal@nblung.ca.
