If you are an RN formerly registered with NANB and HAVE NOT been registered elsewhere, including outside of Canada, since your last active registration in New Brunswick, please refer to these instructions.

Step 1: My Profile

Log into your NANB profile online. If you are unable to log into your NANB profile, please contact NANB at nanbregistration@nanb.nb.ca, with your registration number in the subject line.

Step 2: Reinstatement Application Form

Complete the Reinstatement application form, which is selectable under ‘Reinstate My Registration’, on your NANB profile.

If your name has changed since you were last registered with NANB, you must provide official documentation linking your old name to your new name (e.g., marriage certificate or name change certificate).

Step 3: Requirements

One of the following requirements must be met to prove current nursing knowledge and skills:

  • Graduation within the past five years;
  • 1125 hours of active practise as an RN within the past five years (Hours worked out of province must be confirmed by your employer. To do so, please have them complete the Confirmation of Hours form and forward it to NANB directly.)
  • 450 hours of active practice as an RN within the past six months, plus a reference letter from your employer confirming your competence and recommending you for registration;
  • Completion of an approved refresher program within the past five years;
  • Post secondary education in nursing or healthcare within the past five years.

Step 4: Verification of Registration

If you currently hold active registration outside of Canada, please request a verification of registration from the regulator in all jurisdictions where you are currently registered outside of Canada. To do so, please complete section A of the Verification of Registration Form and forward it to the registration/licensing body (a fee may be required by other regulatory bodies to complete this form, so please check with them directly). This is only required for active registration held outside of Canada.  If you are not actively registered anywhere in Canada or otherwise, please request a verification of registration from your most recent registration.

Step 5: Pay Registration Fees

Payment of all applicable fees once your application has been approved.
